Upcoming August Nature Paddles

Saturday, August 3 (9:00 – 11:00am)

We will paddle a short stretch of shoreline in Sag Harbor overlooking Barcelona Neck and Mashomack Point in the distance and enter the easily-overlooked inlet to Little Northwest Creek, a tidal creek marking the western boundary of Barcelona State Park. Catching the slack high tide, we will paddle to its confluence with Rattlesnake Creek, noting the remnants of an old bridge to Sag Harbor, migratory birds, the first salt marsh blooms and other signs of early August. Meet at Havens Beach in Sag Harbor. Contact Mike Bottini at mike@peconic.org or 631-267-5228 for rentals or questions. Rentals available: single kayak: $40; tandem or canoe: $60; SUP: $50. Includes paddles and PFDs.

This is a Group for the East End tradition not to be missed!  Join us for a leisurely half-mile paddle across beautiful Sagg Pond to the ocean beach in Sagaponack, where you’ll be treated to a delicious fish barbecue prepared by Peter Ambrose Catering. The sunset over the pond never disappoints, and can only be outdone by the moon rising out of the ocean. After dinner, gather around the bonfire as we toast marshmallows, meet new friends and eat s’mores. Pinch yourself – you’re not dreaming – as you paddle back under the light of the full moon!
IMPORTANT: Please bring your own drinks and towel or chair to sit on – supplies must be transported in your kayak.
If you have any questions, please contact Kristina Lange atklange@eastendenvironment.orgor 631-765-6450 x 216.
